CBD Basics

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the naturally occurring cannabinoids found in hemp and cannabis plants.  CBD is the primary component of the hemp plant and is non-psychoactive.

What is the endocannabinoid system?

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) plays an important role in maintaining the stability and balance of the central nervous system (CNS) and its response to internal and environmental stimuli. The ECS is activated by the binding of cannabinoids to its CB1 and CB2 receptors. The most abundant cannabinoid receptor is the CB1 receptor; however, the CB2 receptor and other cellular receptors are also engaged by some cannabinoids. Studies have shown that through this system of receptors in the human body, CBD can moderate immune responses and act as a potent anti-inflammatory.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are naturally occurring compounds found in the Cannabis sativa plant that bind to the receptors of the ECS.

Dosing

How much CBD should I take/use?

Everyone is different. Start with a lower dose/application and build up to a comfortable level.  However, an approximate consumption dosage is 0.25mg CBD multiplied by your body weight in pounds on a daily basis. Try to split doses equally between morning and evening. As for topicals, there is no limit. Apply as needed.

Can I use more than one CBD product at a time?

Yes. Craft 1861 Restore products complement each other so you can use them together. CBD is non-toxic so there is no risk associated with combining varying administration methods and concentrations of CBD.

How often should I take CBD?

The number of doses/applications you need depends on the condition you wish to address. For example, arthritis sufferers will likely want to use CBD several times a day to provide all-day relief while those who need help relaxing would use one bath bomb to soak in the tub.

Effects

Will CBD get me high?

No. CBD is not psychoactive like THC. It cannot get you high. However, if manufactured and tested imprecisely, traces of THC can be found by drug screenings. Craft 1861 Restore products are batch-tested through rigorous ISO certified and USP® testing standards for zero traces of THC, a first in the CBD industry to prevent any impurities.

How will CBD make me feel?

CBD can enhance the binding of serotonin and dopamine in the brain. This results in a more positive perspective, while allowing you to feel relaxed and calm without producing any negative mind-altering effects.

Time to effect and how long will it last?

Several factors can impact the rate and duration of CBD’s impact, including age, sex, height, weight, metabolism, delivery method, dosage, and frequency of use. Typically, CBD’s calming effect is within 15 to 60 minutes of application or consumption lasting approximately 4 to 6 hours. Start with a lower dose/application and build up to a comfortable level.

How long does CBD stay in my system?

CBD can be found in your system anywhere between 2 to 5 days, although many factors are at play that can make it stick around longer (or shorter). CBD builds up in the body over time. Taken consistently, it will be present in your system; taken on occasion, it will clear faster.

Safety

Is CBD safe?

Yes, but before trying CBD for any medical concern, you should speak with your health care provider or pharmacist about whether it would be right for you.

Can I overdose on CBD?

No. Even in high doses, CBD is non-toxic.

What happens if I take/use too much CBD?

The most common side effect is drowsiness. It often makes people fall asleep much earlier than usual and stay asleep for several hours.

Can I get addicted to CBD?

No. CBD is not addictive and has a low likelihood of producing physical or psychological dependence.

Does Craft 1861 use cannabinol (CBN)?

No. Craft 1861 does not use CBN. CBN is short for cannabinol. CBN and CBD are both cannabinoids, but they have different chemical structures. CBN comes from the breakdown of the psychoactive cannabinoid THC. It’s mildly psychoactive, but it generally doesn’t produce a high like THC.

How should I store my CBD products?

Do not refrigerate or freeze CBD products or expose them to direct heat or light. Keep products at room temperature. Spaces like pantries and medicine cabinets are great for storing CBD.

Legality

Is CBD legal in the United States?

Yes. In 2018, Congress updated the Agricultural Improvement Act, commonly known as the Farm Bill, making hemp-derived CBD legal to be cultivated, transported, and sold nationwide.

Is CBD legal worldwide?

Hemp-derived CBD is the only type of CBD that is legal in most countries. However, because CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant — and there is more than one specie in this family — its legality is not unconditional everywhere. Craft 1861 Restore products are formulated using only hemp-derived CBD.

Can CBD be shipped?

Some countries like Canada have stringent laws about selling CBD products from the US. Legally selling CBD products to Canadians requires a lengthy and complicated application process with Health Canada, their licensing agency. Other countries like the UK allow CBD products shipped from the US, provided the product complies with UK law and doesn’t contain more than 1 mg of THC, regardless of how large the container is. CBD products remain illegal in some countries, like the UAE and Malaysia.

Will CBD make me fail a drug test?

No. As long as it contains less than 0.3% THC. Federal workplace drug tests establish cut-off values far above the 0.3% concentration rate to ensure that trace amounts will not trigger a positive test.

Craft 1861’s 100% pure CBD isolate contains zero THC and is tested in International Standards Organization (ISO ®) certified labs exceeding World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) testing standards. Each product comes with batch-specific testing data available right here on our website. To view your product’s data, visit our Get Test Records page.

The Quality of Craft 1861

What sets Craft 1861 products apart from others?

Craft 1861’s commitment to quality in all of our products is the foundation of our integrity. We source only the finest, 100% pure hemp-derived hemp isolate. Our current growing methods are state compliant, and we never cut corners in any of our approaches to providing our consumers with the best products possible.

All of Craft 1861 CBD products include the additional benefits of Beta-Caryophyllene (BCP). The overall efficacy of CBD is dramatically enhanced by coupling it with BCP. Research shows that BCP actively binds to the endocannabinoid receptor CB2 stimulating a strong anti-inflammatory response. Combined together, studies have shown that CBD and BCP demonstrate several impacts on cellular and metabolic systems including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, improved wound healing, neuroprotective, and analgesic (pain relieving). The combination of CBD with BCP may result in reducing anxiety and an overall improvement of wellness.

Other natural ingredients such as silk amino acids, aloe, and shea butter as well as the essential oils of vitamin E, arnica, white willow bark, eucalyptus, lavender, peppermint, sunflower, and coconut also work in harmony with BCP plus CBD, providing highly effective antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. Craft 1861 offers all the benefits of CBD and more, far surpassing our competitors.

How does CBD work for anxiety?

CBD works by targeting multiple independent mechanisms involved with anxiety, depression, and stress-related behaviors. It has been shown to boost Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter in the brain that blocks specific signals in the central nervous system providing a protective and calming effect.

How does CBD work for the skin?

The topical administration of CBD creams, balms, and oils is a safe, effective, and non-invasive alternative to improve the quality of life for people with some skin disorders. CBD is great for irritated, inflamed, dry, or acne-prone skin. It reduces the thickness of the sebum on the skin helping to prevent clogged pores and acne.
